The journey of MCH is one of vision, evolution, and unwavering dedication to excellence in hospitality.

It all started on December 30, 1944, when Kristian Madsen, the forward-thinking director of Herning Motor Kompagni, proposed a bold idea: "We shall build a hall worthy of our city. A place where companies can showcase Danish ingenuity, and where the community can gather for arts, sports, and meetings." His vision laid the foundation for future generations.
The first hall
By May 20, 1954, Madsen’s dream materialized with the opening of the first 1,600 m² hall. This initial hall quickly became a cornerstone for commerce and culture in Herning, attracting the Danish Textile Fair as its first tenant – a fitting tribute to the city’s textile roots.
As Herning's business landscape flourished, so did MCH. In 1962, expansion plans took shape, and by 1963, five new halls, totaling 10,000 m², were ready to host the first Craft and Industry Fair, now known as hi Tech & Industry Scandinavia. This event has grown to become the largest of its kind in Scandinavia, reflecting the region’s industrial prowess.
First multiarena in Denmark
The new millennium marked a period of ambitious expansion. Vision 2025, unveiled by the present CEO Georg Sørensen in 2000, outlined a bold plan for the future, including the creation of the first multiarena in Denmark, Jyske Bank Boxen, and the football stadium, MCH Arena. These facilities have turned the area into a premier destination for sports, concerts, and large-scale events.
Jyske Bank Boxen has – among many other events – hosted six international handball championships, the European Short Course Swimming Championships, and the World Equestrian Games, which were also held at MCH Arena. Additionally, the multi-arena in central Jutland has staged performances by international top names such as Adele, Ed Sheeran, George Michael, and Madonna.
One of the absolute pinnacles of MCH’s development came in 2018 when Jyske Bank Boxen and the city of Herning hosted the Ice Hockey World Championship. This global event not only showcased MCH’s world-class facilities but also put Herning on the international map, highlighting the city’s capacity to host major events.
Always a modern event venue
MCH’s journey is a reflection of Herning’s transformation. From its textile town origins to becoming a modern hub of innovation and culture, MCH has grown alongside the city, continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of the community and the business sector.
Today, MCH A/S stands as a symbol of what vision and determination can achieve. It is a place where history meets modernity, offering a dynamic space that serves both commerce, sports, and culture. As Herning continues to evolve, MCH remains at the heart of its cultural and commercial activities, demonstrating that with the right vision, anything is possible.
